Cafe L’Europe was founded in 1973 by Titus Letschert and partner Norbert Goldner, who combined their extensive restaurant experience, along with their Dutch and German influences, to open Cafe L’Europe on St. Armands — one of the first restaurants in Sarasota to specialize in continental cuisine.
Its name and vision were inspired by the classic Europe ambiance of the popular De L’Europe Hotel in Amsterdam. Elegantly designed with old world charm, the restaurant was originally the real estate office of one of Sarasota’s most famous residents of the past — John Ringling.
In August 2016, Ron Milton and Joseph Balzano took ownership of this iconic restaurant. Ron and Joe are excited to be a part of the rich history and tradition of Cafe L’Europe and to add their own twists on this community dining treasure. Outstanding food, impeccable service, and the ultimate dining experience is more than their goal – it is their passion.
The Cafe L’Europe menu will still feature long time favorites Brandied Duckling, Dover Sole Meuniere, Potato Crusted Grouper, Chateaubriand served tableside, Lobster Bisque and French Onion soup served in a large sweet onion, but you can look for some new menu items over the coming months for your dining pleasure.
Ron and Joe look forward to making your Cafe L’Europe experience one that you will immensely enjoy and keep you coming back for more.
